Broadway Grosses Analysis: MJ and Leopoldstadt Set House Records

Last week on Broadway, cumulative grosses fell slightly—by nearly $500,000—despite two additional shows on the boards, with both Kimberly Akimbo and KPOP beginning previews.

But that didn’t stop house records being broken at the Neil Simon and Longacre Theatres, with MJ the Musical and Leopoldstadt both enjoying the highest-grossing weeks of their runs so far. Leopoldstadt, which opened October 2 (read reviews here), took in $1,095,529 last week, playing to an 83.23%-full house. MJ broke records at the Neil Simon for the seventh time in its run, taking in $1,777,138 and filling 100.42% of seats.
